It is already the Fourth Sunday of Advent…and we do not even have a fourth week to prepare ourselves further for the holy solemnity of the Nativity. We only have today! Time is running out. For tomorrow, is Christmas day!

Yes, time is running out. In today’s Gospel we have Mary, the handmaid of the Lord, speaking her “Yes” – “Let what you have said be done to me.”[1]  “In the model of Mary, we pray that we will be people of faith who recognize God’s saving plan for us and are able respond with obedience.”[2]

Even God seeks permission of Mary, for her consent to become the Mother of God. Of course, the event of the Incarnation not only affects the pure and humble woman of Nazareth, but each one of us

If you can make a final preparation for this great event, perhaps you could avail yourself of the Sacrament of Reconciliation, of Confession. Thus, you will avail yourself too of the pardon and grace that Christ’s birth, death and resurrection has obtained for you. Then, indeed, when you wish someone a happy or merry Christmas you will be imparting the joy that only Christ can give.

Forget the presents that are soon to come, think of and worship God made Man!
