This is a special night. This is a holy night. A night that the world has never known before. The still silence is broken as the herald angels announcea Saviour has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.[1] Earth is joined to Heaven.

Hark the herald angels sing…we are called to bow down and worship. God has become man, GOD HAS BECOME MAN – just think of that for a moment! He the sinless one has taken on our humanity! “…the Word became man, earth is joined to heaven.[2]

Hark the herald angels sing…go and see for yourself, you will find a child “wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.[3]

Hark the herald angels sing… “Glory to God in the highest heaven and peace to men who enjoy his favour.[4] Yes, a peace that the world cannot give. An inner peace that no one on the earth can take away from you.

As St. Leo in one of his Sermons said “All share in the joy of Christmas. Our Saviour, dearly-beloved, was born today, let us be glad. For there is no proper place for sadness, when we keep the birthday of the Life, which destroys the fear of mortality and brings to us the joy of promised eternity. No one is kept from sharing in this happiness. There is for all one common measure of joy, because as our Lord, the destroyer of sin and death, finds none free from the charge, so He comes to free us all. Let the saint exult in that he draws near to victory. Let the sinner be glad in that he is invited to being pardon. Let the gentile take courage in that he is called to life.[5]

So, go and worship Christ the Lord, the Word made flesh and open yourself up to all the blessings that only He can give. Yes, this is a special night, a holy night, a night to remember, for earth is joined to heaven!
