A wonderful and engaging catechetical resource is beginning to really take off here in our diocese of Portsmouth -- Come Follow Me! Our Sr. Hyacinthe was first introduced to this French resource (from the Secular Institute Notre Dame de Vie) a few years ago and was astounded by it, so much so that she's begun translating the resource into English. Various parishes across the UK, and in particular our own diocese, have taken it up -- including parishes in Sandhurst, Basingstoke, Park Gate, and Southampton to name a few.
This resource engages chldren through the Word of God, inviting them into a personal relationship with our Lord, along with fostering a rich liturgical, doctrinal and moral catechesis lived out in within the group and within their daily lives.
Most recently, Sr. Hyacinthe has translated the Come Follow Me resource on sacramental preparation for First Reconcliation and First Holy Communion. This will be officially premiered at our annual Diocesan Day for Catechists next Saturday. For more information click HERE and scroll down to "Events", and to register click HERE - it's free!.
A few weeks ago we held one of our first training sessions for the new sacramental resource in Fair Oaks. The catechists were amazing, and so open and enthusiastic to be introduced to what may at first appear to be a rather intimidating resource. By the end of our training day, the catechists worked together to present one of the sessions as a trial run - it was marvellous! Please keep all catechists in your prayers and the children they will be working with. It is a precious and most blessed calling to be a catechist.
